Teaching and conducting professionally since 1985, I am an active musician residing in Central Virginia. I hold a Bachelor’s of Music Education (1985) with a concentration in voice from Longwood University, Farmville Virginia and a Master’s in Music Education (2003) with a choral conducting concentration from Shenandoah Conservatory, Winchester Virginia. In 2010 I earned a certificate in Desktop Music Production from Berklee School of Music, Boston Massachusetts. Currently I am working on my certification in vocal instruction from the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute.
Presently, I teach 3 levels of choral music, Class Piano and Guitar, and Music Technology at Fluvanna County High School in Palmyra Virginia. As an adjunct faculty member at Piedmont Virginia Community College I instruct class piano, music appreciation, and conduct the PVCC Chorus. For the past 8 years I have served as conductor and music director for the Fluvanna Community Singers.
The past 30 years have afforded me a varied musical experience, teaching all grade levels (K-12) and working professionally with school, community, and church choirs and ensembles. I have also conducted all-county and all-district choirs throughout Virginia. Additionally, I have presented lecture-demonstrations on the subject of African-American music.
